2024 El Dorado Gewurztraminer

Citrus, canned pear, green apple, crisp, savory, firm

Not commonly grown in El Dorado County, this grape is native to the Alpine regions of Italy and France, where the clones and growing conditions make for flamboyantly-scented wines.  In our region, the wines show more subtle aromas of grapefruit lychee, with impressively firm and structured mouthfeel.

2024 Rose

Complex, watermelon, dried-cherry, rose-petal, fresh nectarine

The most food-compatible of all wines, roses can offer more richness and complexity than white wine without the astringency of reds.  Made from a blend of four varieties including Mission and Zinfandel, it shows lovely, complex fruit and broad mouth-feel: enjoy it over the winter months and into the spring!

2024 El Dorado Dolcetto

Cherry turnover, floral, crushed raspberries, perky

Native to the rolling foothills of the Alps in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy, the grapes for this wine were grown alongside the south fork of the American River in Coloma by Josie and Patrick O’Connor.  Young and vibrant, with red fruit aromas, French Oak  and a lively palate, it is a perfect companion to Italian food, grilled meat and hard cheese.

 2023 ascoli red blend

Dark fruit, plum, anise, medium-body, smooth, dry finish

This blend of Montepulciano (66%) and Sangiovese (34%)  is a nod to my parents’ home-town of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region of central Italy, where wine is the indispensable companion to everyday dining and an integral part of “La Dolce Vita”.

$18/bottle - $16/refill

2024 Fiddletown Zinfandel

Deep, ripe, cherry pie, jasmine, raspberry jam, structured

This warm and expressive wine was grown by Gino Rinaldi, owner of the historic Eschen Vineyard, one of the oldest continuously producing vineyards in California dating back to the 1860’s.  While the grapes for this wine come from more recent plantings, the wonderful terroir has produced a lush and structured wine brimming with ripe fruit and subtle spice.

$18/bottle - $16/refill

2024 cabernet franc

Ripe, complex, mineral, dark plum, black cherry, rich, balanced

Grown at 2,400 ft elevation on the well-drained, decomposed-granite soils of the Fair Play AVA, this wine is deep and focused with complex aromas of dark fruit and mineral and subtle notes of French Oak.  Richly structured and full-bodied, it will pair well with holiday ham, braised short ribs and Christmas Turkey with fixings.  Also delicious with well-ripened cheese.

angelica

Berries, dried figs, roasted nuts, molasses, and leather.

Made from 140 year-old Mission grapevines from Rinaldi Vineyards in the Fiddletown AVA  of Amador County. Angelica is a style of wine that dates back to the Mission period of  California, the mid 1770's. It is made from vines originally brought from the Canary Islands  as Listan Prieto and later dubbed "Mission" because of its association with the Church.  Unlike most wines, Angelica is made with little or no fermentation; Brandy is added to the  juice or must, bringing the alcohol level up to 18-20%. The young wine is then aged in  barrel, in some cases many years before release. Our Angelica is a blend of numerous  vintages and has an average age of 9 years.

fortified muscat

Apricot, orange-rind, honeysuckle, butterscotch

Made in the style of a port with a combination of Orange Muscat and Muscat Canelli, this wine was fortified with brandy half-way through fermentation and aged in French Oak barrels for 18 months.  It is vibrantly fruity and complex, with good sweetness and cleansing acidity.
