Sierra Foothills Wine Visits

In May 2023, the author visited Cappelli Wine, a new winery in Placerville, Sierra Foothills, California. Founded by winemaker Marco Cappelli, the winery offers a unique concept inspired by European practices. The wines are affordable, ranging from $12 to $14, made from local vineyards, and filled from 15-gallon kegs into customers' clean, reusable bottles. Marco's focus is on producing everyday wines that are an integral part of meals, emphasizing quality, affordability, and sustainability. The wines, including Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Barbera, and a special Angelica, impressed the author, showcasing a promising future for Cappelli Wine in the region..
